Norma is the high priestess of the Gallic Druids, tasked with leading her people against Roman occupation — yet she has secretly fallen in love with the Roman proconsul Pollione and borne him two children. Her people are eager to rise up, but Norma keeps delaying the call to war because of this hidden love. "Casta Diva" is the moment she steps out of the temple to lead the people in prayer under the moonlight — outwardly a solemn religious rite, but inwardly the unspoken struggle of a priestess torn between faith, duty and love.

This aria has remained a classic for nearly two centuries because it makes "simplicity" the ultimate challenge — the melody itself is restrained and calm, with no flashy bravura, yet it demands extremely long breath lines, precise intonation and delicate ornamentation (fioritura) from the singer, where the slightest flaw is instantly exposed. This is exactly why "Casta Diva" is regarded as the touchstone for whether a bel canto soprano has truly "arrived."

Every time I hear "Casta Diva," I think of those moments in life when we "must appear strong" — at work, giving others confidence; at home, carrying responsibility — yet deep down, everyone longs for a sliver of moonlight, a moment to set down every role and simply breathe, simply pray. In front of her people, Norma is a priestess, a leader; only within this melody does she become an ordinary woman who can be afraid, who can struggle, who can be vulnerable. Perhaps true strength isn't never wavering — it's allowing yourself one honest moment of vulnerability under the moonlight, and then still choosing to carry the weight and keep walking forward.

今天中午,和几位上海老朋友相聚,边吃边聊,分享近况,轻松愉快又充满温情。
This afternoon I met up with a few old friends from Shanghai — sharing a meal, catching up, laughing together. Relaxed, easy, and full of warmth.
相聚之余,我也为朋友们进行了身体跟踪检测。通过对比之前的数据,看到大家的健康指标都有显著改善,亚健康指标大幅减少,整体身体状态都保持在非常年轻的水平,真的特别为朋友们感到高兴。这些积极的变化,也让我们更加坚定了坚持健康管理的重要性。
Alongside the gathering, I also ran body composition tracking for my friends. Comparing the new results with their past data, I was thrilled to see clear improvements across the board — sub-health markers noticeably down, overall condition holding at a remarkably youthful level. It reaffirmed for all of us just how much consistent health management really pays off.

今日去 Downtown,顺路参观了 MOCA。当代艺术的表达确实很抽象,展览只有一层,馆藏作品也不多,大部分作品真的看不太懂。
Today I went Downtown and stopped by MOCA along the way. Contemporary art really is abstract in how it expresses itself — the exhibition only spans one floor, the collection isn't large, and honestly, most of the pieces went right over my head.
不禁想起多年前参观巴黎的蓬皮杜中心(Centre Pompidou),以及纽约的现代艺术博物馆(MoMA)。不愧是世界顶流的现代与当代艺术博物馆,丰富的馆藏和众多经典作品,至今仍印象深刻。
It brought back memories of visiting the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York years ago. Truly world-class modern and contemporary art museums — their rich collections and countless iconic works still leave a deep impression on me today.
艺术没有标准答案。每一次走进不同的博物馆,都是一次新的体验,也让自己换个角度看世界。

感觉住在 Alhambra 是一种幸福,步行到 Main Street 就能找到想吃的东西。这家【裘家生煎】做得还不错,不亚于上海的小杨生煎。一份生煎加一碗咸豆浆,份量有点多,适合两个人分享。但一个人也可以慢慢摆拍一下,晒晒这份小幸福,不知不觉就吃完了。很喜欢这样安宁、松弛又愉悦的节奏。
There's a quiet happiness in living in Alhambra — just a short walk to Main Street and you can find whatever you're craving. This little spot, 裘家生煎 (Qiu's Sheng Jian), really delivers — every bit as good as Xiao Yang's back in Shanghai. One order of sheng jian bao plus a bowl of savory soy milk is honestly a bit much for one person — perfect to share between two. But eating alone has its own charm too: slow down, snap a few photos of this small happiness, and before you know it, the plate's empty. I really love this kind of calm, unhurried, easy rhythm.

今天下午来到阿罕布拉图书馆,正好遇到加州初选投票日(Primary Election Day)。
Stopped by the Alhambra Library this afternoon and happened to catch California's Primary Election Day.
此次初选主要选出州长、国会议员、州议员等公职候选人,为今年11月的大选做好准备。现场看到许多居民前来投票,人来人往,十分热闹。感受到社区居民积极参与公共事务的热情。
This primary mainly determines candidates for governor, Congress and the state legislature, laying the groundwork for this November's general election. On site, I saw a steady stream of residents coming out to vote — the place was buzzing. It was heartening to feel the community's genuine enthusiasm for civic participation.

This afternoon I stopped by New Life Beauty & Wellness for a facial — a quiet, cozy space to slow down and unwind for a little while.
晚上和朋友一起去了上岛海鲜酒家,点了一份招牌支竹羊腩煲,羊腩炖得软烂入味,配上吸饱汤汁的支竹,暖胃又暖心。
In the evening I went to Top Island Seafood Restaurant with friends and ordered their signature braised lamb brisket with bean curd sticks — the lamb falls-apart tender, the bean curd sticks soaked through with rich broth. Warm and comforting.
美容、美食、朋友相伴,简单的一天,也是踏实的一天。
A facial, good food, and good company — a simple day, and a grounded one.
